Pls evaluate my chances

Int'l student, senior
GPA:about 3.1, none economics major
Undergrad courses include full series of Calculus, Algebra, Probability, Statistics, Micro& Macro, and etc...but grades are not outstanding

GRE: 600 Verbal / 800 Quant / 5.0 Analytical
TOEFL: 283

My preferances are: Ohio State & UC Davis
Can anyone give me some idea how tough it is for me to go to these two schools?

Thanx a million~~~

Hey Joysource

As you might have gathered from reading other posts on this forum, a GPA of 3.1 will not make you stand out. In fact most people would consider it problematic for top schools. What was your class rank?

Also, the calibre of your undergrad institutions matters for admission. For instance, if you went to Beijing University (guessing from your signature ), or somewhere like that, it would certainly help.

take three or four high-level courses before you apply, and get A's in each and every one of them. then, on your statement of purpose, point out how well you did in them and argue that your past performance does not explain much about the person you are now. you have to indicate some sort of structural break between your old grades and the new.
