Paranoid GRE delivery question.
I read it takes the GRE people 5 business days to mail out GRE scores, once requested, and then I figured it would take another 5 business days for the mail to get to the universities, so I thought that by calling last Friday, the 1st, I would be able to get things to the universities that have a Dec. 15 deadline on time (although it would be last minute, I know!).
Well, I called but they didn't like taking only my SSN and I didn't have my registration/confirmation number, so the automated system told me to call back M-F 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. when there would be actual *people* around to assist me (the first time I had called after 8 pm, before 10, because it said that the automated system would work then...). So, basically, my question is: if I request GRE scores to be sent early Monday morning, is it at all likely that they will arrive in time for the Dec. 15 deadlines? Stupid, stupid me. I have my own copy of my results in my hometown, where I am going on Wednesday, so I could send a photocopy of them to the schools with a note saying that the official records will arrive shortly, if that would help. I know this was terribly stupid. But how much in trouble am I? |

I would send a photocopy of the score report in the package you mail to the school. I think GRE scores can arrive a bit after the deadline, just like recommendation letters. There's not much you can do now, so no need to stress about it.

Not very much trouble, I'd guess. Even if the scores arrive a few days late, I really don't think the information goes to the committee exactly on December 15. So long as everything else is in, and the scores arrive soon, I'd say you are in good shape.

For what it's worth, I called into ETS on Tuesday and UCLA's tracking site claims to already have my scores. *shrug* Also, some schools (Berkeley for instance http://elsa.berkeley.edu/econ/grad/admissions.shtml) explicitly say that they give an extra couple weeks for supporting materials to arrive. I imagine this is true for many schools (can anyone with experience confirm this?) even those who do not say so explicitly. Whatever the case, you can't change it now, so it isn't worth worrying over.
We've all come this far. No freaking out now. ![]() |

i was afraid abt the same thing and the schools i contacted asked me to put a photocopy of my score report in the mail for them. they say they will accept it unofficially for admission purposes, but you still have to have teh official scores sent in.
some schools though actually say on their website that the photocopy cant be used for admission evaluation. so i guess it should work with most, but maybe not for some. |

It's on the same page as the online application. http://www.gradadmissions.ucla.edu/n...UBMIT=Continue Click on the "Application Status" link. Assuming you applied online, you use the same password as you did for the application.

2. Email the school and ask. One school told me that the score had been received and would update the status a few days later.
