Perks
I just spilled some hot water on my laptop, and the SOB is dead now. I'm wondering whether I should buy a decent new computer, or I should go with a shitty one for temporary use, expecting that the graduate school will give me a better computer once I'm admitted.
I know the CMU Tepper gives each admitted student an IBM Thinkpad. Does any other place have a similar policy? |

The CMU B-school is the only program I saw that explicitly mentions giving students laptops. It might be relatively easy in some other programs to get one paid for later in the program, but probably not at the start.
One thing you may want to look into: if you're on financial aid, many schools will allow you to get extra loan money (well, increase your need, anyway, but there are caps on loans and all) to purchase a laptop. Check with your finaid office if you're interested. |
