I just got a call from Yale asking for my fall grades. I guess that is a good sign but a bad omen cause I got two Bs

econanu just joined TestMagic.
I emailed the chicago admissions address because my self-reported GRE scores and personal statement (both of which I submitted online, and then sent in) were listed as not received on my status page. The woman who responded said that they had an issue with their system this year, where things don't always switch over when they "check" them.

what courses did you take in all? and which ones did you get a B in?
thats prob what will determine.
but it actually is a very good sign. if a school like yale is looking closely at your application then the others should be looking at it closely too!

I hope other schools will look close too I just hope they dont ask for grades

I took Grad Micro, Grad Math Stats, A senior thesis course and Measure Theory, and got a B, B, R and an A respectively. R is for ongoing research. The B's suck. I didnt really try, I just wanted to sit in on the classes and get exposure- not work my but off. I figured I'd have to work my butt off next year anyway...

the only reason they prob asked for the grades was to look at your grad econ courses. they prob dont care for the research so much.
hopefully they wont take this as a bad sign.
but i understand. i took the grad micro, macro and math stats and made A,B,A in them. worked by butt off. and taking grad micro 2 and macro 2 now. i can TOTALLY understand just wanting to see the material and not kill yourself over it. ive thought about it several times, asking myself ' why torture yourself right now when your grad school will be more than happy to do the favor for you?'
