Campus Paris-Jourdan
anyone has a comment on the graduate program 'Analyse et politique économiques' from Campus Paris-Jourdan? Is that as good a program as other well-known european programs, ala, LSE, Toulouse, UPF, etc?

Do you mean this one www.master-ape.ens.fr? Their program is very good (especially Macroeconomics), and probably comparable to Top 10 US program (with a lot of Mathematics). But it is unknown outside francophone countries. The main reason is their courses are taught in French, not in English. If you plan to do career outside francophone countries, PhD in Economics from Top 40 – 100 US Universities are “more competitive” (=helpful) than a PhD from Paris-Jourdan campus. If you still prefer doing PhD study in French language, I recommend you to go to Quebec Canada: Université de Montreal (Micro, Metrics, and Finance) or Université Laval (Macro).

What makes you think it's comparable to the Top 10 in the US? It doesn't seem to have nearly the structure and rigor that American programs have (from what I could tell looking at their webpage). Also, looking at students, there seemed to be a focus on empirical research rather than theory.

French graduate programs are extremely rigorous and very competitive, maybe you are not familiar with the French education system but its not bad at all...after all isnt Arrow a french guy??? ....I know a few folks who got their bachelors in econ from relatively average school in france who manage to get admissions in Top 10 US program.....admissions committee in US are very familiar with their system of education...maybe I am being biased here cause I attended the french high school in NYC. |

Maybe so ... I would still never recommend anyone who is not French or at least French speaking to study in France. It seems to me that a top American degree carries more weight internationally.
