Impressions of a few programs - Syracuse, UC Irvine, USC
I'm hoping that some TMians could share their impressions of a few programs that I've applied to but I haven't seen discussed much on the board.
- Syracuse - UC Irvine - USC I'm interested in micro/public/urban economics. Where do these programs rank overall (30-50ish?)? Thanks in advance to anyone who's able to respond! |

USC: decent in microeconomic theory, IO, econometrics, financial economics. Syracuse: a Ph.D. program with a strong tilt towards public policy subjects such as public economics, international trade, labor economics, and urban economics. UCI: I don't know anything about it.. They all rank somewhere between 35 and 55 according to US News. |

UCI seems to be ranked pretty high in political economy - - when i was there, it seemed like the department wanted to shift the focus to education and transportation, but I am not sure the have continud that route
its a great area and helpful faculty, but as with any UC , lots of TAing good luck
