Just found out I'm in at UVA. Tuition waiver, $9000 ta-ship and health ins.
Question for all - what is the protocol when you get an offer you're almost sure to turn down? Should I go ahead and tell them?

You should def. let them know, especially in UVA's case as they have limited funding. I'm assuming you're referring to UVA, so just out of curiosity which of your two offers are you saying dominates UVA?

I'm rather biased (since I haven't heard yet from UVA), but it would seem especially nice to let UVA know early because of how they seem to do their admits and aid offers on such a rolling basis.

I hope my post didn't come off arrogant or anything. I am very excited about all the offers, but for me personally the two from Rochester and Duke dominate UVA. I still want to discuss the situation w/ my LOR writers and such, but I do want to let them know ASAP if I do not intend to matriculate so that the offer can be passed to someone else.
Thanks guys, I hope everyone else starts hearing from UVA soon!

Hi Weirdo,
I got an email from a faculty member this morning with the offer
@Chicago

I will greatly appreciate it if you guys who got the offer from UVa and don't wanna be there reject the offer as fast as you can.

Couldn't take it any longer and called Patty Futrell. She said I've been admitted. Was expecting a rejection. Didn't ask about funding though.
