I am pretty sure that there is the possibility of applying for an internal fellowship if you are a PhD student (the probability of getting funding being low, though). If I remember well, you have to apply after you get an admission offer and you won't have the outcome until late spring/early summer. I was wondering whether there is such a possibility for Master students...

I have an offer from LSE with what I would consider full funding:
it says I won't have to pay tuition and will get 14k for living, if I can't not get outside finance

Thanks. Can I assume that refers to pounds, or is it 14K dollars?

Thanks! And no funding for me.

This route was only in case I didn't get into an ordinary Ph.D. program, so I'll not consider it. I'm so happy that I don't have to go through another admissions cycle!!

The status of my 2nd option (MSc Economics - Research) has changed. Now it says:
1.We are pleased to inform you that we have made you an unconditional offer.
2.We have not yet processed your acceptance of this offer.
I guess it's an unfunded offer, but in the following lines, under the voice "Graduate Merit Award" it says:
On the basis of the standard of your application and academic experience to date, you are eligible to apply for one of the limited awards from the Graduate Support Scheme. The deadline for completing an application online is 30 August 2007.
For information about other sources of funding please visit the Financial Support website.
Any idea about what does it mean (apart from the obvious conclusion that I can apply for funding)? Does it imply that there's a high probability of getting those funds?

    #edit:
following the link I found the answer to my questions:
The Graduate Support Scheme is open to those offered admission to a full or part time Master's programme who have been awarded a Graduate Merit Award, or who have been notified that they have been invited to apply. Please note, however, that due to the high number of applications received, the School is not able to assist as many candidates as it would wish.

dude, when it comes to funding and LSE always assume the worst. it is definitely the kind of place that would make it clear if and when it does happen.
I am going to NYU Stern to do an Economics PhD which will be wicked nice.

I agree, go to California or wait for Yale...even with funding you would loose one year - the MSc is NOT the first year of the MRes/PhD at LSE.

congrats on the admit. i hope you enjoy telling them to $£%& off when you are on the plane to sunny cal (or new haven).

better yet, just dont reply. i really think LSE is a tough place to be... too many students and really stand-offish faculty. i did my undergrad there and essentially got given a library card and told to come back three years later.

the graduation was incredibly ghetto too - what a disappointment that was.

enough moaning from me... back to work (my boss just clocked me on this blog. great).
