    Stockholm School of Economics

Did anyone hear an admission decision from SSE? The deadline for application in its PhD program was last Feb 1.

Also, can anybody share about perceptions on the SSE program when compared to U.S. and Canadian universities?

I emailed Lilian Oeberg and he replied saying:

The selection process is still going on. We will notify you as soon as it is finished. It is difficult for me to say when, approximately middle of April.
As far as programme's strength is concerned, I think that it can't live up to a top30 US university. Obviously it depends on your future goals (for instance, wheather you dream of teaching at a top10 US department or not) and on your interests. Keep in mind that it's a joint PhD programme with Stockholm University, which has a bigger (and better) faculty. So you might look also at researchers at Stockholm U to see if you would fit well there. Personally, I applied at both schools because of Torsten Persson (a well-known political economist).

Thanks, grahamcoxon! Earlier, while waiting for response from forumers I decided to email Lilian also and the reply was similar to yours (the 1st two sentences).

How about in time series econometrics? This is an area I'm very interested in and I was hoping that I can still work with Timo Teräsvirta, a professor emeritus already. I don't know if SSE is still strong in TS metrics although EconPhD.net says that it is at #28. Stockholm U is way lower.

Regarding the quality. I only applied to Stockholm to have a place to go if everything went wrong. Unfortunalety, I received a letter from them: "We are sorry but we have to reject your application."
    Going to NYU!
Admitted, declined: Chicago (partial funding), Penn (no funding), Wisconsin (waitlisted for funding), Penn State (18k), UIUC (16k), Maryland (no funding), Rochester (no funding)
Rejected: Columbia, Berkeley, Yale, Princeton, Stockholm, UCLA
Pending: Kennedy School (probably another rejection)

Econphd07, did you apply too early to have the same early result?
