peterB, hands down the best thing i've read in months in this place.
Dafrk3in, who in their right mind would trade a 40 year-old, Clark medal laureate and future nobel winner to someone who got a Nobel prize back when the original Phillips curve worked?

Apparently this one's official:

Not a bad list of hires this season. At least makes up for Han Hong and Patrick Bajari leaving.

nobel prize winner twenty years down the road? maybe. chicago wants to be the number one ranked school NOW.

jahizbarlas, im guessing u are at minnesota, knowing all that stuff. I wont argue. (its angelEtos)

Dafrk3in, how will chicago be number one now with a man that is 86 years old? He can be as bright as a knife, but his days are over. If one takes past glory of faculty as standard of quality, then Columbia is undoubtedly number one, having three nobel laureates in retirement age.

five is greater than three my friend, and public perception is strictly increasing in nobel laureates, as i'm sure you will learn as an economics phd.
