Brad Delong has announced on his blog that Chad Jones will be leaving Berkeley for Stanford in the fall. Also, George Akerlof has retired. :-(

In a post before I had said that Schimitt-Grohe, Martin Uribe and Ricardo Reis were joining Columbia, and there were 2 big offers for econometrician still pending. One, Marcelo Moreira (from Harvard), was already confirmed in this forum to have accepted the offer. The other offer outcome is the new thing: Jushan Bai (from NYU) has just also accepted a position at Columbia.
Now, the Econometrics team at Columbia is headed by the co-authors Bai and Ng.

I wrote somewhere here some days ago that if Columbia continues this aggressive hiring policy instead talking of top 5 we should start talking of top 6 with the inclusion of Columbia!

George-Marios Angeletos preferred to stay at MIT even if he had offers from Chicago,Yale and Minnesota. He was also promoted to full professor!And he is only 33 years old!
