I haven't. I'm planning to go there early (say mid-July) to hunt for a 1-BR close to campus. Not sure where I'm gonna stay while I'm apartment hunting though...

I applied to on campus housing but it seems very difficult to obtain an apartment there, hence most probably I'll have to do the same

I am finishing up the MA program in Econs at USC. (I didn't know it wouldn't help for PhD applications...)

If you intend to get a car, I really wouldn't recommend living near school. It is a really unpleasant area. Many students live near school but I commute. I live in West LA and the environment is just so much better and more pleasant. School area is really, well, skid row. And if you want to be near the department, do note that the Econs dept is at KAP building, which is at one end of the campus. If you get an apartment within 10 mins walking distance of the other end of campus, you have to add antoher 10 mins of walking commute.

I do like joining USC but it seems that I will never hear any news from them!
