I haven't read the second edition, but I did read the first. While I thought reading it was valuable, it's not a book I'd want to buy at all - I doubt a second reading would be particularly useful. Try to find it at a library.

Does the second edition contain new interviews w/ grad students?

I am asking this because I already read the first edition (Klamer and Colander's book).

I suppose it's a misnomer to call "Redux" a second edition. It is a completely new book, so all the interviews are new.

From an applicant's perspective, the one thing that stood out in the interviews was that all of the grad students suggested that future applicants take real analysis. This suggests that having taken real analysis no longer differentiates applicants, at least at these top schools.

I heard Colander give a seminar about his book and its findings, and it was very interesting. I can't speak to how good the book is, but from what he presented, it looked very good.
