Nyu

Some say that this school is very tough for admission. Any opinion? More difficult than minnesota or rochester?

According to the information on the web sites of these departments, the annually number of applicants (Econ PHD) in NYU is over 1000, in Minnesota less than 400, and in Rochester approximately 600. NYU provides funding to all the students admitted. Thus no wonder that so many people are rushing there.

Stuy 's dreams are becoming reality.
Being at NYU I am biased, but I think that NYU is very good at Minnesota's best (Macro) and it is a bigger department. #Faculty is more than 40 + Stern Economics (25-30) + Stern Finance (40), so I believe your possibility set is larger. In the far past Minnesota has done way better in terms of placement. In the recent past if there is a difference I don't think it is big. It is definitely the other way about if you control for macro graduates.
