just to add to my earlier post:

I'm also looking for any info on low-interest loans available to help with relocation and/or making the first year more "comfortable". I'm a US citizen if that matters (fed loans?)

At the Rochester flyout, it was mentioned that stipends had a tendency to vary from year to year. E.g. if you had three B+'s in your first year, maybe you wouldn't get quite as much cash in your second year. Or if you needed a second chance to pass one of the qualifying exams, you'd lose some money.

I know funding offers are typically accompanied by a "good academic standing" disclaimer, or something like that, but is this sort of thing typical?
