Maybe they think you would not accept their offer...follow iugi85 advice, ask you would like to receive an offer if they reach you in the wait list...I am sure you would receive that offer today

However, you are very high on our waiting list and if you should have an interest in pursuing the PhD at Boston College, let us know. If you would like to talk further about it give me a call or send me an email. I will be very happy to talk to you."

    What do you think?
    What should I answer ?

    need help!
Thats great news! IMHO its now up to you to get in.

    Thanks guys.
I feel very strange...up to yesterday I felt very bad..now I see some lights.
It's also true that I am not in (until now) and that I am still waiting other 12 answers...
I ma just a bit scared in tems of placements...you know that as researcher or professor you will start working in a lower ranked school than that in which you earned your PhD....
Anyway I am gonna answering him, explaining that I am glad and excited and that I am seriously considering their (potential) offer.
    Of course..it is not binding....

Antonio, if I were you, I would call the adcom, or write requesting to speak via phone, rather than simply emailing him. Especially regarding the extremely high caliber of your other apps (maybe ex BU/Br), you should not let the admit slip away
    in: brown, boston u
    out: duke, mich, wisc, ucla

I am with Ephyou. Antonio, I would not let BC's pseudo-offer slip away, specially when you are aiming so high on the rest, and since BC even hasn't admitted you yet. Probably BC was your safety (along with BU & Brown), and yet you are waitlisted. It's not like the rest won't accept you, but BC is a terrific department with an awesome program in terms of taking care of their people. I'd pick it over Brown and Boston U, indeed (all other things equal, which could not be the case here).

At last, if you receive a better offer from somewhere else, you just let them know. It is not any big deal before April 15th.

    Good luck, anyway!
But she came and knelt before him, saying, "Lord, help me." And he answered, "It is not fair to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs." She said, "Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters' table." Then Jesus answered her, "O woman, great is your faith! Be it done for you as you desire."

    Ok. I wrote me.
And he just called me back!
    AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!
He said that in his opinion I will get offers from better places. If I will have offer from TOP 10 I have to go on that way.
Otherwise he said: "You must come to BC!"
They will try to get new funds and if people admitted in the first round reject, I will receive istantaneously an offer.

    Let's continue hoping...

I still hear nothing from BC. Does that mean I'm out? Should I call them? By the way, CONGRATS Antonio. The professor really really likes you. I'm sure you will get in!!!

@Antonio: But honestly it seems as if you're surviving round by round the Northwestern monster. So I wouldn't be too pessimistic if I were you. Having a rejection from Duke is merely an indicator for nothing as you can observe that many students with great profiles like u received rejections and Yale... well it's Yale isn't it? A place for econphilomaths, isrealecons and wet-econ-dreams... Having a rejection from Yale does not imply that you also receive rejections from other top schools on your list if you take a look on last year decisions. You'll be fine, I'm sure!
