zsla! where are you?? I actually noticed that Heckman writes a lot with his students, so I don't think what you mentioned is a big problem.

I actually did. Both of my bosses (both recent graduates of Harvard and are well-reputed) said Yale is the best fit and that it is an excellent program (ie remains to be broad yet is extremely strong in my area).

Moreover, Yale seems to care a lot (and invest) on its students and it's not unusual when they write joint papers with students.

Anyway, it's nice to see contrasting opinions--helps you think about why you really want to attend a certain program
