You probably will get into some of your Canadian choices......if not more. I did my undergraduate at FSU......the department is making a big push in experimental economics and is also strong in public economics. They don't make many research institution placements though (I just got into Oregon which has had about 5 in the past 5-6 yrs....the only one I know of from FSU was a guy two years back getting into University of Oklahoma) and youre pretty far away from the beach......Tallahassee in alot of ways is like southern Georgia.....the school has a great sense of community though.

I don't know whether there are any MA Econ programs you can still apply to, but if there *are* any, if I were you I'd apply as a back up, just in case, since you say that you'd be willing to work an extra bit beforehand to get a better admit. Probably you *would* be able to get a better admit, if you've a weakness. I'm not sure just how much a weakness 5-6 econ courses is, though. It's hard to say how much I had, since I was on the UK system for my master's and there we mostly did research, but even if you count everything you could possibly count I didn't have very many, suffice it to say, and it was hard to evaluate my transcript. I forget, did you have the math?

Well, you've a LOT of places still to hear from -- a LOT. Personally, I'm confident you'll get in somewhere else, even though I don't know where you've applied. Your interests seem good for Berkeley so if you don't get in then next year definitely apply at the very least for ARE.

(Where "you" = dr shpak.)

Hey, dr_Shpak, I am a fellow Russian and am crossing fingers for your admissions! Btw, it's really surprising that you get ANY rejections with your MSU background.... I thought all folks from MSU go to the very top US schools. I really hope you get into a good program and I am actually sure you will. It's weird how it works here sometimes. I did my undergrad in the US and when I applied (to 20 schools) I got rejected from all the lower ranked ones, but got admitted to a very good one. So you never know!
