RA job postings
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual to work as our full-time research assistant for one year beginning in the summer of 2008. The job will entail close collaboration on a number of new and ongoing projects in industrial organization and political economy, with a focus on media industries. Previous holders of this position have gone on to PhD. programs at the University of Chicago and Harvard University.
The ideal candidate will: (i) have a strong quantitative background; (ii) have strong computer skills including programming; (iii) be able to work independently to solve problems; (iv) be able to direct a team of undergraduate research assistants; and (iv) have a long-term interest in pursuing research in economics. Background in economics is a plus, but not necessary – we welcome candidates with strong technical backgrounds who are looking for more exposure to economics. If interested, please send a CV, list of undergraduate courses taken and grades received, and a cover letter briefly describing your career/study goals by e-mail to Joyce Van Grondelle (joyce@chicagogsb.edu). Matthew Gentzkow, University of Chicago GSB (http://faculty.chicagogsb.edu/matthew.gentzkow/) Jesse M. Shapiro, University of Chicago GSB (http://home.uchicago.edu/~jmshapir/) |

I know that the purpose of this thread is to post ads about jobs, but let me give a piece of advice: Just send e-mails to professors that you really like!!! Seriously, just treat the website with the faculty information as a long list of ads.
I just realized that e-mails to Profs who haven't posted ads are more successful than e-mail to Profs who have posted ads ![]() Sorry if my post is against the purpose of the thread, but I had to say that!

If you are an undergrad (specifically minority or first generation college student) I highly suggest you apply to several programs. You may end up working on a project with someone famous. [more for those who will be juniors (maybe soph.) in the fall] |
