hi Blues88!
Do you want to get your full phd at either of the two universities or transfer after one or two years?

I'm from Amsterdam but please confirm my advice with your professors. Both are supposed to have the top programs in Europe. Tinbergen is really prestigious and I would guess you would be one of the strongest candidates on the European job market.. Are you funded during your first year at UPF? If you have any questions about living/studying in Amsterdam, let me know.

I was accepted at UPF, and I think Tinbergen is a better place to be if you aim to go to a PhD at the same institution. The structure of TI is great, the entering-class size is small and they have more than 120 affiliated researchers. Besides that, Amsterdam is way better to live than Barcelona (my opinion).

no, finishing my BA right now, but I have some friends who do (one has just quit). So I'm by no means an expert.

no matter where you go, you will be going to a great programme... academicaly, there are no difference between the two programmes (both offer a great preparation and have a good reputation in europe). the diferences relie in subjective matters that can differ depending on you personal tastes and personality...

I am choosing TI instead of UPF because I have no funding at UPF and full funding from TI (the opposite from you)... if I had full funding at UPF and no funding from TI I would go to UPF, but that's my criterion...
