you can't do anything without multivariable calculus, unless all you want to do is use functions with one variable.
what does your topology course cover?

I believe is general topology.I still have to check the syllabus.I just want to adjust that mark....!I took real analysis and linear algebra at the statistics department(common course with statisticians) as an u/g but that mark really worries me.I could get a LOR but it should be reported the nature of the problem and since it is something particularly delicate (people may react in different ways including academics) I would like to avoid that and adjust as better as I can!
In fact when I asked a feedback from UCSC why my application was unsuccessful got a reply by Phillip McCalman stating that if I could adjust that mark I could retry to reapply next year.So I am now looking fo some re mediates

It's hard to believe that a single course-grade can keep you out of a program. Even if you had failed that course I don't think it could make that much of a difference. By this I mean that maybe you should think twice before taking the feedback seriously.

italos: I would really appreciate if you would let me know which school it is. and btw. I cannot believe UCSC rejected you because of one grade. I think I must have sent them the messiest profile they have ever seen and still they admitted me. strange

I don't say that you are lying. I believe that this is what they said. I just find hard to believe that this could be the real reason. Maybe they were looking for an excuse and their feedback is not that accurate.

Now I'm a bit confused . Irrespectivelly of the name of your acquittance, did he/she guaranteed that you will be admitted? It seems even more strange (to say the least) to have someone inside "promoting" your application and then said that you were declined admission because of a single grade!

This is similar to saying "You had GRE Q790 instead of Q800 so we will not admitt you". As if 10 points more in the Quantitative part could make or ruin ones profile! The same with a single grade.

I think Italos that you would get better replies and comments in your started a thread discussing the feedback you got from the schools. It is a really interesting topic and it is wasted in a thread with irrelevant title.
