Hey Cheese. I'm semi-familiar with Georgia State and the AYSPS. The faculty are solid, and I think that they're notably better than other similarly ranked schools. What are your research interests? I know they're weak in development and some applied areas, but if you're into public finance and the like, you won't find many places better.

Actually I am interested in monetary economics. I got accepted to Indiana but without funding. I can not afford Indiana. My only choice is Georgia State . However I am not sure. I do not know if I can find a job easily after graduation.

I don't know anything about monetary economics at GSU, sorry. Just check the faculty page And see which faculty members have that listed as one of their interests, and see how extensively and where they have published.

From their website, here are a few selected placements:

"Recent graduates of the Ph.D. program have found academic jobs at the University of Minnesota-Morris, the Naval Postgraduate School in California, Deakin University in Australia, and Indiana University. Recent non-academic placements include the Environmental Protection Agency, the Congressional Research Service, and the Congressional Budget office, all three in Washington D.C.; the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Economic Forecasting Center, both in Atlanta, Ga.; and the Center for Study of Science and Society in Dallas, Texas."

As you can see, if you're trying to find a job at a top notch economics program, this might not be the program for you. Sorry if this isn't much help.

Being so close to the Atlanta Fed might be an advantage.

Macroeconomics is not the stronger are at GSU.
They focus more in applied research like public finance, urban, environmental and experimental econ.
