Columbia News
(i) Ricardo Reis and Uribe couple accepted their offers and are joining Columbia. Maybe Columbia is now #1 in Monetary.
(ii) Metrics has 2 big offers still pending (iii) Micro has no offers out there |

I've moved a bunch of profile evaluation posts to their own thread, and removed a series of posts complaining about the off-topic conversation. In the future, please just hit the post alert button. A moderator can clean up the thread. If you just post complaints on the thread, it is further derailed but doesn't increase our chances of seeing it and doing something. Thanks.

The announcement was not made publicly until yesterday.
So the full list of senior hires are: Schmitt-Grohe, Uribe, Reis, and Moreira (Moreira won't join until 2009 though) There are still more senior offers outstanding. They also hired Navin Kartik from UCSD and Jonathan Vogel from UCLA. Jaromir Nosal of Minnesota was the lone newly-minted PhD hire. With Jon Leahy visiting they're now offering SIX macro field courses this year (which is twice as many as any other field here) 6222 Adv Macro Analysis II (core), Schmitt-GroheUribe, Fall 6220 Adv Macro Analysis I (core), Reis/Preston, Fall 6712 Monetary Theory and Policy (core), Woodford/Uribe, Spring 6226 Topics in Economic Analysis II, Steinsson-Nakamura, Spring 6225 Topics in Economic Analysis I, Nosal, Fall 6217, Topics in Macro Dynamics, Leahy, Spring |

As I have said in a previous post Columbia is now number one ranked for me in monetary economics!
I am curious to see what will happened if they continue this wild hiring strategy..shall we then continue talk about top 5 or that will be top 6?
