    Admission chances?

Hi, I'm getting ready to apply to several PhD programs and I was wondering what people thought my chances were.

I'm getting my masters in econ from a good state school. My BA was a double major in math and econ. My undergrad grades weren't spectacular (around 3.6 in econ, 3.2 in math) but my MA grades have been much better (3.79 at the end of the first year) and my GREs are 760Q 610V (85%tile, 87%tile respectively). Also, my LORs should be solid, I have 2 professors in particular who will be able to positively comment on my ability to do research.

I plan to apply to one top-20 (why not?), but mostly I'm interested in getting into and getting funding at some 30-60 schools.

    Thought on my chances?
    Thanks!

I suggest you look at the thread "Profiles and Results 2008"

It will give you an idea of how various people did with various profiles.

Bingo, Jeeves. That was going to be my suggestion. Sweet job on the Verbal, but 770-800Q is almost a must for most occasions. I'm not going to say that's absolute. So you may want to think about that again. Anyhow, if you find "profiles and results 2008" helpful, it would do a good service to the community to post your profile to the Roll Call Fall 2009 if you are applying this year.

Cheers, and best of luck. (If you post with a detailed profile to Roll Call, people will have a better idea of what they might say, but looking through the Profiles and results is one of the only true ways to see how you might match up to those accepted!)

I agree with Canuck. You should try to get your QGRE to at least 780. In fact, if the other aspects of your application are good, then this GRE score might hold you back at a few good places.
