Thank you y-gat and Diplomer.
Y-gat, I will actually be attending that Master this year (QEM, Erasmus Mundus) and will be doing the whole second year in Bielefeld. This is why I was curious about the reputation of the department and its placements. |

@Unidentified
So, are you in Bonn, now? if possible, let me know where I can find syllabus for the master's program. Are there many international students in Bonn? As far as I know, Bonn only has a few international students for the ph.d program. I don't really know how to speak in German, so I'm little worried about being isolated once I get there. |

You can find the syllabus for the Master's Program in Bonn here:
Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität and also a description of the modules here: Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität I'm a phd student at Bonn so if you have more questions about the master's or phd program I'm happy to answer them. |

I want to know the teaching style and the text books for Foundation Modules. Are the master's courses same as the ph.d courses? I asked following questions before, so I also want to know the followings: Are there many international students in Bonn? As far as I know, Bonn only has a few international students for the ph.d program. I don't really know how to speak in German, so I'm little worried about being isolated once I get there. Sorry for asking too much. |

Just for the record, in all German universities there is a student council that you can ask everything. They are students like you and me, mostly undergraduates or graduates. But they should be able to answer questions concerning the PhD courses as well.
Unfortunately, their website is in German. But you can contact them here: http://www.wiwi.uni-bonn.de/fachscha...php/kontakt-2/ ('Nachricht' = message, 'Dein Name' = 'your name' and 'Nachricht senden' = 'submit message'.) The Master courses are likely to be different to the PhD courses. All students are able to speak English. So this should not be a problem. Kind regards Diplomer |

You are right that there are not many international students in the program but they are trying quite hardly to diversify the student body. And, of course, everyone speaks English. Last edited by Omni : 07-13-2008 at 11:37 AM. |

Switzerland tends to get overlooked in these discussions. However, both, University of Geneva and (particularly for those into finance) University of Lausanne have very rigorous Masters for cheap tuition. Zurich and St. Gallen should also be worth looking at.
