Low undergrad GPA with recent good GPA in M.A.
What do you think about a person who has low undergrad GPA grades 3.0/4.0 but is able to get through a great M.A. with high grades?
For example, PUC-RIO places lots of people (about 40% of the alumni) every year in top 5 schools. A low GPA at undergrad but good grades with LORs from a program like this would be enough to put someone in a top 10? I know there's some other variables, but I would like to know what you think based on your experience. |

Usually university websites mention that higher weight is placed on grades from graduate courses, and that's what I believe.
However, there are interesting counter-examples like Olm, who had a perfect MA GPA and yet failed to get into places that he would have liked to get into. |

I have also a GPA of 3.0 and I tried to find an answer to this question but believe me nobody really has perfect information about this.
So my personal advise is "Do your best and apply whatever your undergrad GPA is" Some remarks: I really know a person who gets into Top-10 despite his sucking GPA~2.7 Last edited by umutk : 07-12-2008 at 12:53 AM. |
