Is BC a macro dept/What are BC's strengths?
I posted this in my where to apply thread, but I feel it is a distinct enough question to warrant its own thread.
Is BC comparatively stronger in macro fields? If not, what are BC's strengths? |

Susanto Basu -- does a lot on macro productivity analysis. Was at Michigan until 2005.
Chris Baum -- monetary, writes a lot of stata books I worked some with Fabio Schiantarelli once, who was co-authoring with Iacoviello. James Anderson who does international trade has some seminal papers in that field. But overall, yeah, I guess there strength is in macro. |

BC has very good professors in many fields, but Macro one of the stronger ones. They also have excellent applied econometricians in both micro and macro, as well as a couple good people in game theory and mechanism design. Being a smaller department, though, their biggest strength leans towards macro with the previously mentioned professors (basu, baum, iacoviello, schiantarelli, ghironi, ireland) .
