Any book by Douglass North would be good. Not really textbooks but great books on Inst's and New Institutional Economics.

'The Mechanisms of Governance' by Oliver Williamson is excellent. A lot of his other work may also be useful, depending on what aspect(s) you're interested in.

Amazon.com: One Economics, Many Recipes: Globalization, Institutions, and Economic Growth: Dani Rodrik: Books While I am not familiar with the book itself, I have read a number of his papers and found them to be very interesting. I would dare say that the book also is good. It also gets a 5-star rating on Amazon.

Well the book is mostly a recycling of his papers, so if you like Dani's papers, you'd like the book.

You might be better off looking at surveys in the JEL or JEP or the various Handbooks.

Actually, this from the Handbook of Economic Growth might be exactly what you need -- http://elsa.berkeley.edu/~chad/handbook9sj.pdf
