I am sorry, I just joined, and hence I did not know that. By the way, do you mean all the first year students passed prelim? Or just TMers passed? I am confused. Please specify that. Anyway, thank you for your answer.

In general, schools ask students whether they are members of the board. If they are, they do not have take prelims.
Of course I am joking. I am sure that YoungEconomist wanted to put an smile in our face too.

Yeah, it was a joke. Although, I am half serious, as I've noticed that most members of this board seem to pass prelims (even at schools that generally have high attrition rates).
It'd be interesting to follow the members of this board throughout their academic and professional career and see how they fare. There's obviously a good deal of self selection going on in regards to who joins (and frequents) this board.
Most economists (and economists in training) are very serious, so probably not.

True, but there's generally a negative correlation between seriousness and sense of humor (George Stigler discovered it for his dissertation). More specifically, people that take themselves too seriously are often not that funny.

But is there a correlation between seriousness and smartness? What about sense of humor and smartness(or anti-smartness)? Am I stupid?
