Hey you guys.
Earlier today, I took the first practice test in Barron's SAT Book, 24th Edition. In section ten, question number 13's answer seemed off. I wanted to post it just to see if anyone else would catch why the answer was the answer, of if Barron's answer was incorrect. NOTE: Don't see past spoiler if you haven't yet taken the test, and plan to sometime in the near future! (: SPOILER: 13. Employment statistics indicate that the percentage of workers who found jobs in the fall quarter is lower than the spring. A. workers who found jobs in the fall quarter is lower than the spring B. workers that found jobs in the fall quarter is lower than the percentage in the spring C. workers who found jobs in the fall quarter is lower than the equivalent percentage in the spring D. workers who had found jobs in the fall quarter is lower than the spring E. workers finding jobs in the fall quarter is lower than the spring quarter Barron's says that the answer is C, but B is also a viable answer, I think. After all, what is the use of "equivalent"? Plus, all they said in the explanations was that, and I quote, "Error in logical comparison. Compare a percentage with another percentage, not a percentage with a period of time." Thanks in advance for your help! (: |

I find that the actual teaching section in the Barron's book isn't that bad, it's a little different, but in a good way. I've already gone through the blue book a few times, and it doesn't help me to go through it again, as I already know all the information in it. It's just the practice tests that seem ... weird.

Have you seen the new version of the Official SAT Study Guide? It has three new tests in it.
And yes, the Barron's book has a lot of material in it. It's good practice. But don't spend too much time on the practice questions in it, since many of them seem hastily written. |

Well it's C because in B you compare percentage of workers in autumn with percentage in spring. The key is that you don't know what is the second percentage which makes this answer quite ambivalent. These questions are one of the easiest on the SAT so if you practice enough you will start seeing them. Actually I think they are the most questions based on that problem on the SAT. For the WR my advice is to practice, practice and practice. Get as much as possible books and do the exercises. For example if you have barron's book buy the College Board official guide not because of the advices which don't worth at all but because the 6 or 7 full- lenght tests which will definitely improve your SAT. Good luck.
