Sat Score Advice
Hi everyone, i did horrible on the may sat. I need for someone to share their thoughts.
Math 680 Reading 550 Writing 530 Well, i moved to the US 5 years ago from India, so English reading and writing aren't my strengths. I didnt do as well on the math as i thought i would. My highschool gpa is about 3.9 - 4.0. I'm currently taking AP chemistry, Honors Physics, Honors PreCalc (the other core courses are college prep level) I have an A in all these classes except AP chem, i have a high B. Next year i was recommened to take AP cOMPUTER science, AP Calc BC, and AP physics for my main math/science classes. The other classes are again college prep. Anyway, i'm really good at Math and science, but dont do well on the SAT's. I'm not involved in that many extra curricular activites, I'm in Computer Science club, and usually go on computer programming compititions for that. Anyway, i wanted to know my chances in getting accepted to a deced - good college. My interests are computer science and engineering (chemistry or physics related). Also i wanted to know if i'll get a decent scholarship. I look forward to reading your advice. Mahesh PS, i was going to take SAT's again in october (senior year) and hopefully do better because i'm going to study a lot during the summer. I dont know wheter i should apply to colleges with the current scores, or after the october scores because i think early registratiosn are usually before january. Well anyway, i also wanted to know when i should apply for scholarships. i'm really sorry about asking all these questions, but i dont know much about this. thanks everyone! |

Re: Sat Score Advice
While, you dont state where you live, I would severly consider taking the ACT.
Key things on the ACT that would help you: - Easier Math - English/Reading sections are less complicated + no vocab tested - Science Reasoning Section Plus, if you don't live in California, a lot of schools will also take it in lieu of SATII's too. |

Re: Sat Score Advice
For Early Decision most colleges will accept your October scores; November if you rush them.
For Regular Decision, December is fine and will easily make it your college on time. Luckily, the ACT and SAT are never given on the same date, so you can take both in October/November and still have enough time. ![]() - Hope this helps! |

Previous SAT takers say that I should read a lot to improve my Reading Passage scores, so that is what I am going to do. Good luck getting into your college ji! Last edited by kramer3d : 06-04-2005 at 06:31 PM. |

June 4 SAT scores
Hey everyone. I just joined this program today after discovering it from a google search. I took my SATs on June 4th and just looked up my scores today. Needless to say, I did really bad on them!(got scores in the 500 range for math, readin, and writing)
I previously knew that I wasn't not going to recieve a good/great score cuz I've always done badly on these kind of tests, but it's still a bummer to finally see the scores. I mean, i'm usually a really good student. I always do my homework/projects and recieve A's and high B's in all my classes. So, my question for anyone who reads my post is that if studying from the SAT books is actually helpful or not. I've never study for these kinds of tests b/c I've always heard that they test you on what you already know, so it's pointless to study. What do you think? Well, I'm definitely taking the next SAT test. (and my parents are probably goin to force me to trade in summer traditions for hitting the books) Does anyone else know when it is in the United States? Just by chance I don't improve my scores on the next test, do u think that the 500 pt range is enough to get accepted into 4yr schools in California? One more thing (sry but i got a lot on the mind), if you have any advice on taking/studying the SATs, could you pass them along? I'd totally appreciate that! thanks mae |

haha... I think you could get into the California State System... like SFSU or something like that... they take almost everyone. You could get into UC Merced and whatever other UC that takes the bare minimum requirements.
I suggest taking a bunch of practice tests so you know what you're up against. |

Hmm, you got your scores today? I havent got mine yet. Umm my parents are really strict. They made me study for this test and sacrifice school work since january of this year. I have been doin at least 2 to 3 or more hours a day going over practice tests I took and doin the questions over by myself. I havent studied since June 3rd and yes It kinda does help you because you will see the problem and be like oh I did this before, its sorta similar. But sometimes you see it and you know its similar but for some reason you just cant do it. I really hate the SAT math problems, they are the same thing, but so awkward. If dont do good on the June ones, my dad is takin everythin out my room and makin me sit inside all summer with the books. It will suck. I hope I did good. I really dont wnaa ruin my summer like that. But yeh, it does help and if you want or can afford it, get a tutor. I am the same way, almost a straight A student and understand most of everyuthing in school, I just dont test too well.
