Question Need details on how to prepare for the SAT

I am going to start my Class 11 or as you say my high school junior year.

I am planning to take my SAT during August or September 2009,I've got plenty of time to prepare but I need guided advice. I didn't plan on any coaching earlier but after reading a few comments here I think I should consider some coaching.

I bought the The Princeton Review Cracking the SAT 2008 Edition but quite a few people on this forum are criticizing it so I don't know if I made the right choice.

So, now I want to know whether I should continue self study or go for some coaching. I don't know about many places that offer SAT coaching in my city(I'm from Hyderabad,India) I've heard of a few like the Paramount Global. Right about now I am clueless I'm going the way the TPR is sending me. I'm aiming for the most competitive colleges like MIT,Stanford,Princeton,Yale etc(alright I'm dreaming big but I am willing to do what it takes) so I need to make sure I get a score on this test that my parents and neighbors can't stop talking about.

Please help me out.

Hi, I'm Steve and my company Fat Envelope Consultants offers professional support with the college admissions process.

You should take a timed practice test and see how you do. Are there full-length practice tests in your Princeton book? If so, do one of them. If not, practice tests are available at collegeboard.com. If you don’t do as well as you’d like, certainly consider coaching. It can really increase your score. Please contact me by email if you want to learn more about our coaching services.
