    take a look to this questions

    **( In this sentence you must find the mistake. The key says the sentence is correct but I donīt think that . For me there is a mistake on the sentence. Letīs see what you think about it)

    Since his murder , John Lennon has become a legend among those who had been his fans

    The next 3 are a little tricky , take a look at them , and try to answer them

    As the demand increases , manufacturers who previously produced only a large , luxury car is compelled to make a smaller model in order to compete in the market


    Farmers look forward to (...............) every summer

    b) to participate in the county fairs
    c) be participating in the county fairs

    1. I think the first sentence is correct grammatically. He has become a legend since his murder. Using the past perfect(had been his fans) tells us that the people who consider him a legend were his fans in a previous time period(before his murder). It's possible that they remained fans after his murder, but the sentence is concerned only with the fact that they were fans before.

    2. The main subject is "manufacturers" and the main verb is "is", so "is" should be changed to "are" for correct subject-verb agreement.

    3. We need an object for the preposition "to". Since we don't have a noun, pronoun or noun clause as choices, we must use a gerund or gerund phrase, so the correct answer is A.

    4. Louis L'Amour didn't say anything. A person or persons said something about him. Therefore we need the passive construction, "...Louis L'Amour is said to have...".

    what do you think about making this change :

    "have" instead of "had"

    ??

    "Have" is also correct, but it means that they continue to be his fans to the present. "Had" means that they were fans to a point in the past (in this case, probably "his murder").
