chaiyachoti
Hi, Please help correct this question. 1. Many people can no longer afford to buy gold jewelry because the price has gotten so higher. 2. Excessive body temperature serves as a stimulus to bring it about a flow of perspiration. 3. The field of guidance and conselling was still in its infancy in 1914 when Orie Hatcher entered them. 4. The formation of snow must be occuring slowly, in calm air, and at a temperature near the freezing point.
Fortune
My answers: 1.D I am not sure, I choose D simply because the others are fine to me. 2.D is wrong. "it" should be left out. 3.D "them" should be "it". 4. A is the answer. It should be "must occur", because the writer is talking about the phenomenon in general, not a special case. In question 4 there is a typo, "occuring" should be "occurring".
mulcat
Mostly, I agree with the opinion of Fortune. 1. I think it should be "so high" because there is nothing to compare with price. 2. "bring about" means create, occur 3. "it" in this sencente replace "the field of guidance and conselling". So it must be singular not plural. Erin
Originally posted by Fortune 1.D I am not sure, I choose D simply because the others are fine to me.Yes, it should be "so high," as mulcat explained. Originally posted by Fortune 2.D is wrong. "it" should be left out. Yes!! :) "bring about" already has an object, "flow." So "it" is a "double object." Originally posted by Fortune 3.D "them" should be "it".Yes again! :) We are referring to "field," so we need the singular "it." Originally posted by Fortune A is the answer. It should be "must occur", because the writer is talking about the phenomenon in general, not a special case. In question 4 there is a typo, "occuring" should be "occurring". Right again! :D "near" is perfect here. "near" is a preposition, "nearly" an adverb (that means "almost"). If your book says the answer is "near," then your book is wrong. [xx(] HTH! Good work, guys and gals! [^]
