    Hi,
I run into several problems I believe you know their solutions.

    1. Even with sophisticated weather forecasts, many storm arrive unexpectedly and cause significant loss of life and property.

storm must be changed to plural form storms. However, what " Even with sophisticated weather forcasts" refers to. Could you re-write this sentence to make clear.

    2. Having spurned his privileged lifeas a landowner, the Torrents of Springwas the book which made Turgenev famous.

the answer :B but how do you correct this sentence. Is this an adsurb question compared to "reduced clause" rules?.

    3. Having completing his education in Havard, Vendell Phillips became an outspoken abolitionist and a widely-traveled lecturer, who also supported labor unionization.

A is the answer. "a widely-traveled lecturer" sounds weird ?
must it be 'widely traveling..." ?

    4. Alvin Ailey's choreography reflected his southern roots and center on fragments of folk songs and jazz that was innovative in his time.

answer: B. but what that was refers to.

    5. In 1831, English physicist, Micheal Faraday, discovered the principle of electromagnetic induction, which the electric motor and the electric generator are based

Answer C. why is not "an English physicist", or "the English physicist"

I think this sentence is similar to the sentence " although we have sophisticated weather forecasts, many storm arrive unexpectedly and cause significant loss of life and property.".
However, I hope that others will explain your doubt more clearly that I do.
    2. Having spurned his privileged lifeas a landowner, the Torrents of Springwas the book which made Turgenev famous.

If B is wrong. I think that is due to the "Illogical participla modifiers" problem.
That means the subject that has spurned his privileged life as landowner is not the book "torrents of spring".
I don't know anything of Turgenev and the book "torrents of spring" as well, so that I don't know who spurned his privileged life. If Turgenev himself did that. IMO, The sentence should be " Having spurned his privileged life as a landowner, Turgenev was famous for the book "Torrents of Spring".

    3. Having completing his education in Havard, Vendell Phillips became an outspoken abolitionist and a widely-traveled lecturer, who also supported labor unionization.

NO It should be "widely-traveled" as the key. Please look it up in your dictionary.

    4. Alvin Ailey's choreography reflected his southern roots and center on fragments of folk songs and jazz that was innovative in his time.

answer: B. but what that was refers to.
Because it is "that was", not "that were", I think "that" in the sentence refers to "jazz".
    5. In 1831, English physicist, Micheal Faraday, discovered the principle of electromagnetic induction, which the electric motor and the electric generator are based

Answer C. why is not "an English physicist", or "the English physicist"
    I don't know. Sorry.

    I agree with Fortune completely.
In question 5, answer is C, should be "on which".
why is not "an English physicist", or "the English physicist"
I've runned into this kind of question before. "English physicist" is OK. I have to check my book before telling you why.

I am still confused with cases such as a widely-traveled man, a well-read man,.... Do I have to learn them all by heart ? To tell the truth, if ,in the posted question 3, "having completing" is not so easily spotted, I'd choose C as the answer by following the rules for verb-ing and verb-ed nouns. For example,
a beautifully-decorated house (a house that is decorated beautifully)
a quickly responding device (a device that responds quickly)

    Hi!
    Thank Phuong for correcting me.
I am too lazy to look for the rule so I ask my teacher.:o
In 1831, an English physicist, Micheal Faraday, discovered the principle of electromagnetic induction, which the electric motor and the electric generator are based.
is grammatically correct, but the this structure either assumes the reader would not know that Micheal Faraday was an English physicist or puts the emphasis be on "an English physicist" discovering the principle rather than on the individual Micheal Faraday dicovering it.
    Make sense?

    I have a doubt friends ....

Would this modification of the sentence in Q.(5) be grammatically correct?

In 1831, an English physicist, Michael Faraday, discovered the principle of electromagnetic induction, which the electric motor and the electric generator are based on. ?

Is it in anyway different from the following structure..

I am looking for a friend, whom I can rely on
(=I am looking for a friend, on whom I can rely.)

    ?
