Well, as for this matter, I wonder if it works the same way as verbs like "seem", " appear" do. For example, could I say: " these tasks seem to be hard to me" or " " that man appeared to be the best guy in our forum" ???

They would be OK, but I think the English of the first one is rather ugly.

CORRECTED: those books happen to be of the same size.

note the "OF" here, the 'books' is the subject and 'the same size' is a noun and cannot qualify 'books' as an adjective does. So an 'OF' is essential.
