Hmm... these are "super-tricky" questions, not like the real TOEFL.
But here we go... Quote:
who has explored ==> who We most certainly need past tense here, NOT present perfect. I think that the writer of this question was trying to dupe us with "what are," thinking that it was correct since TWO states replaced that area. However, "what" has no referent, and should not be plural. Quote:
consumers ==> since Japan is singular. Again, this is a "super-tricky" question, more along the lines of what we'd see on the GMAT, not on the TOEFL, since many people, including native speakers, would think this sentence is correct as written. Quote:
