Hi everbody,
Following question is from Cambridge TOEFL. Today's sailors __________ many of the same dangers as their predecessors. A-is facing B-face C-are faced D-face I chose C in practice exam but the answer is B. But, why? What is the difference between "C" and "D"? |

i ll try to answer this are faced represents something that happened already atleast few hours before. this question says that even today i., even thesedays poeple face ....... that means it is still happening so it should have present tense. plz correct me if wrong. preeti |

"A" is wrong because it should be plural. "C" should be "are faced WITH" - that is, you must have a preposition to connect the sentence parts. The answer is truly "B", but I can't see a difference between "B" and "D". Perhaps someone misspelled the wrong answer?
