Hello fellow TOEFL test takers:

I am new to the TOEFL test and have absolutely no idea how shud I go about preparing for the TOEFL...I have heard that TOEFL format has changed and that it now includes a speaking section.

I really need help regarding where to start..what resources to purchase...how and what to practice....what are the TOEFL sections...so on and so forth....

Can someone pls advise me how shud I start my preparation...

Whatever your preparation is you should practise listening exercises and reading extracts.
You can talk to natives via skype,for example.One thing that shouldn't be forgotten is to master grammar for doing all these activities.

i am also a newbie here but the only thing i came to know through this forum that we have to practice by ourself and practice hard,,,,,
for the rest they are really here to help us.
just go through the sections and you will finally get your answers..........

Hello Protagonist ,
I'll give what I know in the concern of the materials that should be used.
First : The official guide for new TOEFL ibt & the CDROM with it by ets ( it is a good start that make you oriented about the test & have a lot of subjects in the section of writing)
Second : after you finish this book & its CD. I advise you to go on & use longman book & its software. This book will give you the understand of each kind of quistions you will face in the real test.
Finally : after all & think it is better to finish your study with Barron's book & its 10 CDs.

Don't be depressed by the load I put on your shoulder for taking test but that is if you want to have a high score . If you don't want a high score I think that you can remove long man & work on the official & Barron's only.
