Cool Transitive verb question?
Hi everyone, I'm confused about the intransitive verb used in the two examples below:
1 .In ancient times, banking transactions often took place in common areas, for example, a town square
2 .The 1984 Democratic Convention was held in San fransisco
Why dont they use the simple past in the second one?

...answer to your question #2. This is a passive voice kind of a sentence and simple past (be + past participle ) is right for this sentence for more details.. click this..Transitive and Intransitive Verbs.. hope it helps
