    26.W: I can¡¯t stand know-it-alls.
M: Tell me about it. They are one of my pet peeves.
    What does the man mean?

    answers:
    (a)He enjoys talking about pets
(b)He agrees that the woman is quite knowledgeable
(c )He dislikes people who think they know everything
    (d)He hates standing in line

i know "pet peeve" means something that makes you mad or drives you crazy
but why the answer should be C?

    thanks a lot

    Oh dear! How colloquialisms confuse!

    To translate roughly:

W: I really dislike people who think they know everything.
M: I quite agree, they make me mad too.

So 'can't stand', 'pet peeve', 'dislike a lot' all mean much the same thing.

'Tell me about it' normally means 'give me information about it', BUT here it it is used to mean 'you DON'T have to tell me about it - I know exactly what you mean.'

    Another example:

"The trains were really crowded last night."
"Tell me about it - I had to stand all the way home."
