ciquita0
Hello everybody :D, I have tried the NPR' site that Erin recommends (http://www.npr.org) and I have found an archive as old as seven years... :o You can listen to a radio show and if you don't manage, you can use also the transcript. The subjects are really interesting and they often have as guests professors of American history from famous universities. It'a a good way to practice and enrich your knowledge on America and your general knowledge. Thank you Erin :) PS The format they use for the listenings is ram, not a usually one. But you can go to http://www.real.com and download it from there for free. And to work faster, first save the listenings on your computer. Erin
I simply *love* NPR. I listen to it all day here in San Francisco, on KQED, 88.5 FM. When I lived in Rio de Janeiro for three years, NPR was one of the things I missed the most. My favorite program on NPR is by far "To the Best of Our Knowledge." This show presents radio documentaries of intensely (to me at least) interesting topics. I love the show, and tape it and listen to it in my car during the week. And the best thing for you guys is that they make their current show available for FREE on the Internet. Just go here: http://www.wpr.org/book/ BTW, the ram or .rm format by Real Media is one of the dominant streaming audio formats on the Internet. The main thing I really, really dislike about RealMedia is that every time you download or even use their players, it loads itself into your Start Menu, meaning it will automatically load itself into your System Tray when you start Windows.
