Re: Listening Script - 2
imply means what does the person wants to say.
inference mean , what can you conclude. In otherwords, the former is a hidden answer while the latter is an incomplete answer that is to be completed by you. stated means a given fact that can not be changed. assumed means a preposition that is taken to be a fact for proving something. The preposition iff becomes false turns an assumption as a contradiction. Else assumption becomes true. An assumption is like assertion. Good Question. Strategies involved to solve each: 1. Imply: You will have to carefully hear the tone and situation of a person. Here the answer is hidden. 2. Inference: Here question will be for judging the situation or circumstance under which conversation is taking place or probably it asks about the history. In a way Imply means future and inference means history/past. 3. Stated: A direct answer is required.the answer is in the conversation. 4. Assume: Is similar to Inference but is different in the sense that an inference is based on facts whereas assumption/assertion can be and can't be based on fact. Meaning the situation for as assumption can be false too. Hope I'm clear. |
