(man) Sorry, but I can't go and have a cup of coffee with you now. I've only
done half the readings for the philosophy class tomorrow.
(woman) And I thought I was a slow reader.
(narrator) What does the woman mean?

In my opinion, A is correct.Maybe your friend are not right.Why don't you ask them?

Personally,I think your friends are right 'cause the woman thought that she is a slow reader but the man is slower than she is.
