M: Have you heard about the new shopping center that is being built near the campus?
W: What else haven’t I heard? More traffic and trees cut down. I can hardly wait for it to open.
Q: What does the woman mean?

The answers are:
(A) She’s looking forward to shopping there and can’t wait.
(B) She is tired of hearing about it since she doesn’t like the thought.
(C) She thinks it will be hard to open a new shopping centre due to the traffic.
(D) She is surprised she hasn’t heard and is not keen .

Well, in general womans attitude to the new shopping center is in clouds for me. First, what did she imply saying "What else haven't I heard?".

Second, she said "i can hardly wait for it to open" so she was looking forward to the shop's opening, but the right answer is B. So, why was she looking forward to its opening?

She didn't like the truffic.Which one? The one which consisted of the trucks with the materials or the one that would be after the shop complition?

And what thought didn't she like?(Answer B)

You are welcome to post your comments. Thanks in advance.

I think the woman is being sarcastic; like saying "Great! More boring work to do!" or something like that...
and I don't think it matters what the traffic actually means; she is more likely talking about the trucks with all the construction materials in it, but that's not necessay to answer the question.(I think!) That info is just needed because it shows a negative thought needed to know that she's being sarcastic. Like when somebody says "Great! More cleaning to do!" we know that they are being sarcastic because that is a negative thing; the same here. Normally people don't like traffic and trees being cut down. (Does that make any sense??!!)
The 'thought' she didn't like is referring to is the idea of the new shopping center being built near the campus.
Hope I was helpful.

"What else haven't I heard?" can be fully stated as "What else haven't I heard about it?", which means I heard all things about it, I heard it thousands of times and of course I'm fed up with it now

As other common cases, we saw unconsciously in figurative meaning that she was looking forward to its opening, but what happens if we change our view point to a literral meaning?
In addition, IMHO, can hardly wait for something to happen may different from can't wait to see something to happen. Is that right?

She doesn't like the future effect of the shopping center's establishment as she stated in the conversation: More traffic and trees cut down
Is that clear now?
We may regard it as a tough one at the first glance. But IMHO, if we pay attention to the speaker's intonation, we may get some more clear information. For example, I bet that the woman has raised her tone in the two words: "haven't" and "open " in the above sentence: "I can hardly wait for it to open".
HTH.
