I'm new here
Can anyone who has taken the real test and practiced the Barron's iBT book help me? I can hardly take note (though understand) in the listening and speaking section in the Barron because of the somewhat speedy speech! I did two practice tests in Barron, one with note taking and the other without taking notes and the latter's result was much better! Should i take note? Are the listening and speaking sections in the real tests similar to those of Barron? (everything is OK with the Longman anf Delta key). Thanks so much!![]() Last edited by viking136 : 01-20-2007 at 01:15 PM. |

The only thing you can do is to download the old TOEFL listening part B and C. Then listen line by line as you write down all that was said. In 3 months you will be very very good. If you manage to do it 1 hour everyday that is......

Thanks Bekojan and Cartoonetworker for replying
I have taken the real test on 27 Jan and i'm totally disappointed. I could not get concentration on the reading section( probably because the night before the test i lost sleep). The listening section was quite easy, yet i did it badly because i dopeyly tried to listen to some other test takers' speaking section (i did worthlessly get the second question ). I made numerous errors in the speaking section. I think that i cannot even get 80, which is the minimum requirement of the department i am applying to![]() |

I think note taking is the most important part. I have practiced by Delta's key and working on Barron's now. It is much harder in Barron's book. The lectures are too long and the professor talks to fast. If you practice 1 hour a day you will be good, it is all about practicing. Don't want to skare anyone but somebody told me that the test is even harder but there is nothing impossible.
maybe they wanted to skare me so I would practice even harder. I am taking my exam on 23 March and I am very nervous. |

Hey, i took the real test on march 23, 2007. Not a long time ago.
I took notes for the listening part but not for the speaking. For the speaking they give you 40 sec. to prepare your answer and you will have time for only thinking of what you are going to talk about. Therefore, don't take notes for the speaking. For the listening part it is very important to take notes. Imagine you during the exam, u will be so nervous that you will forget everything you heard. Even if you are getting better mark without notes, I still think that u should take notes. If it is too hard ask someone who knows how to take notes to help u. |
