Hi there,

I have few Q's from the listening of Cambridge Review.

1).
M: I spoke with Prof.Adams today. And she will be offering a course on Medieval Engilsh, this semister.

W: Oooo.. She decided to give the course, After all !

Q: What can be inferred about Prf.Adams ?

But my Question is what does this connotation After all . Does this mean finally??

2) What does "That's probably not a bad idea ! ", mean ?

Wow could you tell me the whole conversation and at least the question? ?

If not, what I have is only a shot in the dark: You can use that sentence when the first person think that something is not good, and in contrast, you, the second one, think that it may come up with good result. This kind of sentence may belong to the Agree-Disagree category.

W: That's probably not a bad idea.

Q: What does the woman mean ?

Hope I'm not butting in- meant to reply to your earlier post too- but didnt get around to it. I think the woman means it is an acceptable idea. It is not bad and neither is it overwhelmingly good:-) Is this the sort of explanation you were looking for?
