Please help me improve my listening skill

I'm from Vietnam . I think my reading and comprehension skill is quite good , but my listening skill is very bad .I don't know how to improve it . Help me plzz

If u have one, u can try listening to audio books. It is time efficient because you develop your listening skills while you learn new things =)

hi frnds

i tuk a kaplan test today.reading is kinda easy.. since i m done wid gre so its easier comparatively.but my problem is listening when d lectures are on topics like music,literature etc..being a science student i find topics on astronomy,aquatic life etc quite easy and interesting but music lectures go over my head.i dont get wat the speakers speak so note taking is useless.pls help me how to improve dat.
i'll appreciate ur suggestions.

You can also listen to the news on TV/radio and then try to speak what they said or try to take notes while listening,if you can, because some people lose their focus on listening if they write. Or in the listening section, try to make 2 columns and write the main points, like if the student is asking/telling a problem and in other column, the lecturer is providing solutions, usually 2 solutions and what solution would you prefer.
In the lecture part, you can write the main topic and 2 examples provided by the lecturer. See if it helps.

I practice with the television too, mostly with movies, tv series and sitcoms, hardly watch news because sometimes is terriblely boring if you're not interested, but you could watch movie, or sitcoms, those are good to learn listening, surely in your country there will be subtitles on the screen, but you have to try to not read the subtitles, and visualize the words that the speakers are saying, if you find some words that you don't know, watch the subtitles, and try to look up on dictionary how it spells. Of course, in the listening section is different because you'd have try to remember part of conversation and respond answers, some questions might turn to be tricky.. but think well if you have time before your response. The whole television idea might help you to improve your listening. Also you can watch Discovery or National Geographic, those channels gives good informations and statements. Too bad here in Argentina they are interpreted and spoken in spanish..
