It takes practice, try one of the free online lectures and as you listen take notes. Sometimes you will miss some of the lectures because you are paying attention to what you are writing. Now listen to the lecture again, this time without taking notes. See how much you have missed, do this at least 1 or 2 hours everyday. In about a month you will notice you are getting more of what you hear.

I thinks that you should recognize WHAT YOU CANNOT REMEMBER and take notes about it such as time, names, main idea. so you can shorten the time you write down and widen time you listen.

Hi crabn! One site I could recommend is BrainPOP - Animated Educational Site for Kids - Science, Social Studies, English, Math, Arts & Music, Health, and Technology It's an educational website for adolescents, mainly high school students. It does NOT contain TOEFL material and isn't an official source for practicing TOEFL listening question. However, I think it'll help you A LOT with your note taking. It contains several videos about various subjects which you can choose from. Not only can you know new information but also practice to take notes. There's also a quiz at the end of each video to know how well you understood the lecture video. Like I said before, the videos aren't language-oriented but I think it's a great way to practice note-taking. I recommend you to give it a try. Hope you like it! Keffaz

Sorry. I forgot to mention that you don't have to subscribe in order to watch the videos.
