Jam
Hi everyone! I want to share information about the book I came across. I was looking for something like that for a while. The book "Vocabulary for TOEFL IBT" by Learning Express teaches how to recognise roots, suffixes and prefixes in unknown words, and thus be able to understand the meaning of the majority of the unfamiliar words. I thought I have a good vocabulary until I took TOEFL this October ( this was my third attempt, need higher score in speaking). Last time I was tested on many unfamiliar words for me. So hope this book helps. Please share if you come across the books on the similar topics. Thank you!

Masy900
For the new vocabularies that you will come across in TOEFL iBT you need to guess the word's meaning from its context more than from its root and/or suffix or prefix. Although this will be helpful to be able to recognize the root of each word but a test taker should be able to guess the definition of each word from its previous and following sentences.
